On Wednesday, February 16, San Jose State University's ALA Student Chapter will host an event featuring Jeff Rothenberg.

Topic: Digital Information Lasts Forever (Or Five Years--Whichever Comes First)

Mr. Rothenberg is Senior Computer Scientist at the RAND Corporation. He is an internationally renowned consultant in the area of digital preservation techniques. He will speak about the short life spans of computer software, hardware, and digital formats, which threaten long-term storage of vital business and institutional data. These conditions raise important implications for digital libraries and for the preservation of vital government and institutional documents. He will propose solutions to these problems.
